RE: BEO Card Game
As Rob mentioned I designed a set of BEO playing cards a while back. It was just for fun more than anything else. But we never got round to actually getting a set printed as it's too expensive to do unless you print a massive run at the same time.

Anyway, here's a few of them so you can take a gander at the design. I've also just updated them to include some of the banner designs I'm working on, which look pretty cool.

A proper BEO trading card strategy game would require much more thought.

RE: BEO Card Game
Wow, nice Smiley_ThumbsUp. But on a proper card trading game you'd need at least 200-300 of them, and I bet that'd be really hard to draw so much cards.

RE: BEO Card Game
Nice idea laser
Loved the designs of the cards john

But i love to play cards which contains power {similar as WWE cards},you can use fire power, ice power etc

ABOUT PRINTING

In india printing stuffs is way more cheaper than other countries

I recently talked to an printing company around 2 months ago to publish my book and they gave me a pamphlet in which price of everything is mentioned

If you want to print only one pack of card with your own customization it will cost less than 4$,
If you want to print bulk orders like 1000 packs the price per pack becomes around 0.5-1$.

So if you want to create a good sales of these cards India is the best place,Around 800 million of indian population youth and playing cards is a hobby up here

RE: BEO Card Game
Wow I'm gonna be honest, I didn't think this idea would even be considered by the Donkins. Guess laser proved me wrong, and that's not to say I don't like this whole idea, I think it's great and would love to see playing card art of almost every egg. Looking forward to see how far this develops.

RE: BEO Card Game
John, those look great!

@ Rob and John

Honestly, why do I think ideas and games like the Ninth Realm are failing?

Well first, it doesn't seem like you guys support your own game. I know this is not true but thats just what it looks like from our point of view.
To improve this is very easy.
- Talk/ Post in the Community more.
- Don't go missing for a few months without saying a word
- Maybe have a tournament where you guys play with regular users?
- Have more Competitions! Please!

- Q & A's are very helpful and many games do this as well. This helps us get some more information and you are communicating with us! So that would show that you support your own game.

The Ninth Realm was a great game idea but lack of communication and advertisement led to a downfall.

Things like these cards and banners, are great to show us that you do support it and you want to expand the franchise.

I am part of another game that is making thousands of dollars a day (and its an app) about card trading. They do things like Q&As, talk to users on twitter, on the app etc. They do have their flaws but every game does.

I can make a new thread if you guys want me to explain how and what to do to show support to your game.

Pleasure as always!

RE: BEO Card Game
(06-23-2015 07:58 PM)Rob Donkin Wrote:  This is an awesome idea. John actually designed some BEO2 cards a while back (we're talking about a standard deck of cards though, not a separate game as you are describing). I'll get him to post some of the designs here. We looked into getting some cards printed but it was going to be pretty expensive.

And that's the biggest roadblock to this idea unfortunately. There are many many attempts to break into this sort of market and the only ones that succeed are the ones that have a huge amount of money and expertise behind them. It's not the sort of thing that could be accomplished by a two man team. The Ninth Realm was our attempt at a CCG in web game format but we soon found that even that requires a lot of money and marketing to pull off effectively. Even though I think it's an excellent game it sadly failed to perform. I think I know where it went wrong (lack of single player/decent tutorial elements, potentially games lasted too long, perhaps it was overcomplicated and required too steep a learning curve), but I think more than anything we just failed to get it in front of enough of the right people. In case you hadn't realised marketing is not one of our strong points and something we're reluctant to spend large amounts of money on for fear of simply throwing that money away.

I would potentially be interested in making a simple online version of a card game like this. It ought to have much greater potential to take off than TNR since we would have an existing Bad Eggs fanbase to throw at it as well as the mistakes we've made to learn from. However, I can already see that such a project would be a very big undertaking and the failure of TNR has made us more cautious. Something to be thinking about though. I look forward to seeing more input on this thread.

Smiley_Viking

Wow Rob, I never expected to even get a response from you, and yet I get one that is very well detailed, and one that I extremely loved to read, over and over again. I'm sorry I haven't had the time to reply to the thread guys, I've been busy. I've had some time to think to myself though, and now I'd like to give you a strong informative look at how the web version could possibly work.

(This will cover the launch of the game up to the first week or so)

Launch of the game
The game coud run in beta for a week like done with beo2, giving people a chance with pro to save their username and squash bugs and give feedback. People that beta test the game could also be given a special card or a little bage or something to symbolize how you were there since the beta launch.

Setup of account and game
You make your account similar to how you do in beo2, username, password, email.

You are then presented with three random generated card packs, each containing 40 cards.

Each pack will contain
10 eggs
10 weapons
and 20 chicken tokens (each varying from 1-7)

Upon opening the pack, the player will look at all the cards and be explained what all they do.

Then they will go through a simulated practice round, which will help them to get started on the game.

After this, they can start matches with other people, maybe 2 players, 4 players, even 6.

Gameplay
The eggs will be described as like Vexis said, with attacks and Health, and chicken tokens.

For example, if a smash attack took 2 chicken tokens, and you had a 5 chicken token card, you could use that card to use smash attack, then you would have 3 chicken tokens left on that card, and with this being on the web, it would be easy to calculate once the attack was made.

The weapons are something I'm still in development of, but here is what I got so far.

There could be basically every weapon we have in game, including dragon weapons, maybe make them rare cards!

How it would work is, weapons require no chicken tokens, they are able to direct hit.

For example, if in my hand I hold marv, king tut, a 2 chicken token, a 5 chicken token, and a bazooka...

I can take the bazooka and directly attack my opponents say, grim, and deal 15 damage directly

Also, in the same turn, until I play every single egg or all my chicken tokens and weapons, I can attack with one of my eggs

So I can take king tut, and use Egyptian wrath for 40 damage and 5 chicken tokens, to the same egg or different.

The game will end when a player loses all their weapons and eggs, chicken tokens left will not matter as they need eggs to have value.

Also, on the weapons, a sidewinder could be used to do 40 to one egg, or 20 to 2 eggs (credit to jachym)

After game
After the game, xp can be calculated based on how much damage was done, and how many cards the player lost in the match. Maybe 10-30 xp per lost egg or weapon.

Leveling up
If you level up, you can unlock card packs, which you can open it get rare cards and awesome things.

Card packs
As mentioned above, you can have card packs for simple creds, like you win after a match, and "gold" creds, or something more premium you purchase with real money to get cooler cards.

I'd hate to make it pay2win, so don't give major advantages this way, but just like weapon packs in beo2, this would follow the same concept, but with a bit of mystery.

Alright, that's all I got for now, hope you guys enjoy and can help to improve on my idea.

Thank you a ton Rob for replying and wanting to consider my idea, this truly means a lot to me.

Also John, those playing cards are amazing, especially the updated ones, they look just as good as the new banners, which I already can't wait to see the next release of.

Thanks everyone else who replied and helped me with the idea, especially Jachym, great ideas in that mind.
